Thu, Oct 8 2026, 3 - 4:30pm Peabody Hall, Ground Floor, 3C Phoebe-Agnès Sinclair The Religion Department and Spiritual Well-Being Program invite you to the Religious Art Gallery Exhibit Opening for "The Living Light" by Phoebe-Agnès Sinclair. This opening will take place on Thursday, October 8th from 3:00pm-4:30pm in the Peabody Hall Religious Art Gallery (Room 3C on the ground floor). The reception will allow guests to hear from the artist about the exhibit and to examine the artwork up close. Light refreshments to be provided. Sinclair is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Georgia. Previously, she received an atelier training at Townsend Atelier, the New York Academy of Art, and the Florence Academy of Art before earning degrees in Philosophy and Art from Sewanee: The University of the South. The works in the "The Living Light" exhibit imagine divine presence quietly permeating everyday life, rather than depicting miracles or supernatural apparitions. They invite viewers to slow down and attend to familiar bodies, objects, and environments as they hover between visibility and disappearance, matter and spirit, the ordinary and the mysterious. This exhibition does more than illustrate faith. It explores the nature of perception and asks whether the sacred might be encountered not beyond the visible world, but through it.
