Every graduate student works closely with their major professor, who is a faculty member in the Religion Department. In addition, each student forms an advisory committee with additional faculty members who may contribute relevant expertise. The major professor and advisory committee will offer support for the student's research development in various ways, including by approving the student's coursework (the program of study), reading the student's thesis/dissertation proposal (the prospectus), reading draft chapters of the thesis/dissertation as needed, and meeting with the student for the final thesis/dissertation oral defense. Students will also work with the department's Graduate Coordinator to keep track of their progress in the program and to ensure they meet all requirements for the degree.
