With the support of the Department of Religion and Institute for African American Studies, graduate students Chera Jo Watts and Sha’Mira Covington recently attended the Southern Humanities Council Conference in Memphis, TN, where they presented on their work facilitating the Hood Feminism book club during Fall 2021.

Congratulations to Nathan Fleeson who has curated an exhibit case titled "Not All Vampires are Evil" at UGA's Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The case explores the changing perspective of vampires as monsters towards good vampires as a basis for vampire fan culture.

Chera Jo Watts has been selected as the Graduate Student Recipient for the Inaugural UGA First Award. Chera is pursuing an MA in Religion and a Graduate Certificate in African American Studies under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Medine. We congratulate her on this outstanding achievement!
