Kimberly Davis Discussion of Reading Religion with Graduate Students in Religion

On September 12 at 5:30 in Peabody Hall 201, Kimberly Davis met with Graduate Students in Religion to discuss and demonstrate Reading Religion (RR), an openly accessible book review website published by the American Academy of Religion (AAR). The site provides up-to-date coverage of scholarly publishing in religious studies, reviewed by scholars with special interest and/or expertise in the relevant subfields. Davis will explain the importance of book reviews to the academy and what makes a strong book review.

Kimberly Davis is senior editor of Reading Religion, a publication of the American Academy of Religion. Previously, Davis was a journalism instructor at the University of Georgia, the University of Maryland, and Trinity Washington University. She also served as a communications director and consultant for various political campaigns and nonprofit organizations. In her nearly 30-year career, Davis has worked for Ebony magazine, several newspapers, and as a freelance writer and academic editor. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and earned a master’s degree in journalism and mass communication from the University of Georgia.
