 Amer Adel

Dr. Amer Adel earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Arabic-Linguistic Studies at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. In Egypt he was the chair of the world Language Department at Cairo American College . Taught both native and non-native Arabic speakers. He used to be a news announcer and a talk show host for years. He also served as a linguistic advisor to the Sesame Street Workshop. Dr. Amer is currently a faculty member if the Departments of Religion and the Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia, Athens. His research interests include student-centered classrooms in Arabic studies, early Islamic literature, and the phonetics of the Quran. He is the Imam of the the Islamic Center in Athens, GA.
